87% of people request human intervention for the supervision of algorithmic decisions

AI is gaining ground in the workplace and everyday life, but a new survey warns that technological advances coexist with growing distrust toward digital security and identity protection mechanisms.

CertiSur and consultant D´Alessio IROL published the results of their annual report on perception of digital security and technological trends for 2026. The research, which consolidates responses from 500 adults, takes place in a context where the main citizen concerns are divided between uncertainty in the economic situation (65%) and insecurity or crime (61%).

Penetration of Artificial Intelligence and control requirements

The report details the insertion of Artificial Intelligence tools. The statistics determine that 91% of the connected population uses products or services with this development, and 70% operates with generative format platforms. In particular, the activities delegated to Artificial Intelligence encompass data search (81%), the resolution of work tasks (47%), and text writing (39%).

However, this technological adoption coexists with demands for process control. 81% of users associate the deployment of Artificial Intelligence with fraud risks, while 40% show distrust regarding the privacy of provided information. Consequently, 87% of people request human intervention to oversee algorithmic decisions.

"Artificial intelligence is accelerating digital transformation, but it is also changing the way cybercriminals operate. Today it is possible to generate more sophisticated, personalized, and difficult-to-detect attacks. Faced with this scenario, digital identity and validation mechanisms take on a strategic role in reducing risks without affecting user experience," highlighted Armando Catarralá, CTO of CertiSur.

Security Incidents and Corporate Trust Setback

In the area of computer incidents, data shows that 43% of users fell victim to hacking or fraud during 2025 and the first months of 2026. Specifically, the modality with the highest number of reports is identity spoofing or phishing, carried out through the WhatsApp application (31%), email service (23%), and phone calls (20%).

"For many years, the challenge was to get people to adopt digital channels. Today that objective has been achieved: nine out of ten Argentines use the Internet and increasingly conduct more operations online. The new challenge is to ensure that experience is secure. Trust no longer depends solely on technology, but on the ability to validate identities, protect information, and offer simple processes that provide certainty to the user," highlighted Néstor Markowicz, COO of CertiSur.

As a consequence of the occurrence of these events, the expectation of individuals regarding organizational action showed a downward shift. In fact, the percentage of users who trust companies and banks to prevent fraud dropped from 83% in the 2025 measurement to 40% in 2026.

In response to this situation, 48% of the sample adopted security measures and 17% suspended their operations on certain web platforms. The prevention tools with the highest current usage level are password use (91%), disabling files from unknown emails (76%), and SMS authentication (59%).

Progress in online contracts and validation tools

The demographic records of the study indicate that Internet penetration reaches 41.2 million users, a figure equivalent to 90% of the population. Within this connectivity ecosystem, 43% of individuals generated or received an online contract during the last period, which reflects an upward variation of 15 percentage points compared to 2025 indicators.

Despite this volume of use, 80% of surveyed individuals report lacking technical procedures to detect alterations in the authenticity of documents in digital format. Additionally, 76% state they are unaware of the formal steps to file claims for problems in the receipt or validation of files.

By way of conclusion, the data determines that digital identity management is established as a central component, where the technology ecosystem requires developing traceability and validation methods that operate with fewer interaction steps to restore the guarantees of data protection.
